La obra española dirigida por Víctor Erice arrasa en los Premios ICS 2024. Otras dos películas españolas también aparecen en el Top 10.
En la 21ª edición de los Premios de la International Cinephile Society (ICS), la película española Cerrar los ojos dirigida por Víctor Erice se alzó con el premio a la Mejor Película del 2023. Erice también fue reconocido como el Mejor Director, consolidando su posición como un ícono del cine español.
Cerrar los ojos
La trama de Cerrar los ojos comienza con una película dentro de otra película, interrumpida por la repentina desaparición de su protagonista, lo que provoca impactos significativos en su joven hija y en su director, interpretado por Manolo Solo, quien nunca logra completar otra película. Temas entrelazados de presencia y ausencia, tiempo y memoria, magia cinematográfica frente al desgaste de la vida diaria.
Además, dos películas más españolas, Sobre todo la noche y Samsara, aparecen en el Top 10.
Ana Torrent, la actriz principal de Cerrar los ojos, logró un hito sin precedentes al ser segunda en la categoría de actriz de reparto por la misma película y ganadora por su papel igualmente memorable como madre adoptiva en Sobre todo la noche. Esta última película también obtuvo el galardón a la Mejor Ópera Prima para el director Víctor Iriarte.
Entre las películas españolas, La sociedad de la nieve obtuvo el reconocimiento de encontrarse entre las veinte mejores películas del año.
Otros reconocimientos
La fantasía romántica Todos somos extraños se llevó cuatro merecidos premios en las categorías de actuación y guion. El actor principal, Andrew Scott, recibió el premio por su interpretación de un hombre gay que finalmente se enfrenta a su dolorosa represión. Por su parte, Jamie Bell fue reconocido como mejor actor de reparto por su papel.
Anatomía de una caída se llevó tres premios. Sandra Hüller dominó la votación a la Mejor Actriz con su interpretación. En la categoría de Mejor Película Animada, El niño y la garza de Hayao Miyazaki se llevó el reconocimiento de los premios.
Finalmente, la cineasta marroquí Asmae El Moudir encabezó la categoría de Documentales con La madre de todas las mentiras. En el proyecto, utiliza ingeniosamente figurillas de arcilla hechas a mano para contar historias e ilustrar múltiples puntos de vista dentro de su propia familia y en la historia más amplia de su país.
