La gala de los British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) 2025, celebrada en el Roundhouse de Londres, entregó premios en más de 30 categorías. Pillion obtuvo el galardón a Mejor Película Británica Independiente, mientras que otros reconocimientos destacaron en dirección, interpretación y áreas técnicas.
La ceremonia de los British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) 2025 tuvo como resultado principal la victoria de Pillion, dirigida por Harry Lighton, en la categoría de Mejor Película Británica Independiente, superando a The Ballad of Wallis Island, My Father’s Shadow, I Swear y Urchin.
Títulos destacados de la edición
Entre las películas más premiadas de la noche, My Father’s Shadow de Akinola Davies Jr. destacó en dirección, mientras que The Ballad of Wallis Island recibió reconocimientos en guion y actuación conjunta. Por su parte, Warfare obtuvo varios galardones en categorías técnicas, incluyendo montaje, efectos y sonido, consolidándose como una de las producciones con mayor presencia en el palmarés. Además, Pillion sumó premios en vestuario y maquillaje, reforzando su presencia en la gala más allá del premio principal.
En el ámbito internacional y documental, A Want in Her, dirigida por Myrid Carten, se llevó los premios a Mejor Director Debutante de Documental y Mejor Documental, además del Raindance Maverick Award. Por su parte, la categoría de Mejor Película Internacional Independiente fue para Sentimental Value, dirigida por Joachim Trier, mientras que Die My Love de Lynne Ramsay recibió reconocimientos en dirección de fotografía y supervisión musical, mostrando el alcance del cine independiente más allá del Reino Unido.
BIFA 2025 cerró con la entrega de premios especiales, incluyendo el Premio Especial del Jurado para Warp Films, el BIFA Cinema of the Year Award a The Magic Lantern Cinema (Tywyn) y el Premio Richard Harris por Contribución Destacada al Cine Británico a Emily Watson.
